On October 21, 2010, a deputy with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Moore, was shot while investigating a marijuana cultivation complaint. Deputy Moore, despite being struck numerous times and being seriously injured, was able to return fire and incapacitate his attacker. Case Number 2010 CR 178 resulted from this attack and Deputy Moore’s shooter, Shane Roush, was convicted of Attempted Aggravated Murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Recently the Ohio Governor’s Office has been petitioned for clemency that would reduce the Defendant’s sentence and allow for his release.
The Morrow County Prosecutor’s Office and Prosecutor Wick are requesting that local citizens consider submitting a letter opposing clemency in this case by emailing them to abbey.roberts@morrowcountyohio.gov so that they can be collected and passed on to the investigator that will make a recommendation on the Defendant’s clemency petition.
