POLICE MEMORIAL CEREMONIES AND PARADE
Ceremonies begin at Fountain Square on May 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. to honor officers who gave their all. After the Honor Guards’ call to order and the rendering of the National Anthem there will be a brief program of recognition.
At the conclusion of the Fountain Square program, members of all area law enforcement agencies, their families, friends and supporters will assemble and march north to the Police Memorial.
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
